Groundwater monitoring network for the Schieland and Krimpenerwaard Water Board

Ask

In January 2023, Dent IoT was awarded the contract by means of a tender to supply, install and manage a groundwater monitoring network on behalf of the Schieland and Krimpenerwaard Water Board.

Dent IoT assembled and installed the sensors along the Krimpenerdijk on the edge of the beautiful Krimpenerwaard. The sensors measure the hydrostatic pressure in a water column. By accurately monitoring the water level in the dike, the slope and the hinterland, the development of the groundwater level under normal circumstances can be visualized.

Approach

The system consists of groundwater sensors including a data logger that sends the sensor information to the internet with a radio module. In addition, there is an online portal in which all sensor values are collected, processed and stored for further data analysis.

In this way, the manager has one clear cockpit from which management can be carried out. The system automatically reports deviations and errors, so that the administrator can respond adequately. In addition, the system offers all kinds of options to easily generate various overviews based on the collected data. This means that the geohydrologists can properly perform their work in analyzing the groundwater data.

Result

The result of the assignment is a groundwater measuring network with which the client can closely monitor the upcoming dike renovation in terms of groundwater measurements.
